What have we misidentified and misapplied as Consciousness?

How do people describe Consciousness? The most frequent answers are "wakefulness", "awareness", "alertness", "responsiveness", "up and about", and "breathing". However, most people misidentified and misapplied the notion of consciousness; they think that they are being conscious when they have their eyes open and breathing.

Calling upon a new level of BEING
For us the word Consciousness is used to depict "the depth of one's connection with oneself, with one's unlimited talents and abilities and the resulting expansion of one's ability to be in communion with others and all things".

Being conscious is an experience of expanding our awareness beyond its present limits. It is a state of flexible awareness, with no fixed points of view. Ultimately, consciousness is a way of connecting what is happening at the present moment with the infinite possibilities. It's about being aware in every moment and "bringing out our very best". Being conscious is calling upon a new level of BEING - "Conscious way of life".

"Conscious way of life" articulates to each of us at a very special, intimate and individual level. "Conscious way of life" encourages you to find what is best within you, and to find ways to embody your best in every dimension of your lives. It is not a once-in-a-lifetime attainment, but a life-long expedition that acknowledge and value that within each and every person, there is a unique and powerful composition of visions, qualities, natural talents, abilities, predilections and aptitudes. When these are ignited by trust, gratitude, awareness, enthusiasm, dedication, and deed, we begin to live the life consciously. By using the gifts of consciousness, our vast personal power is channel for the advantage of both ourselves and everyone concerned

Imagine that all of life comes to you with ease, joy and glory. Imagine your life is permeated and saturated with pure insight and energy. This is the power of Consciousness.

Consciousness is our intrinsic faculty and inner resource; however, for most people it has been concealed and undeveloped. The majority of people are so disconnected from their own states of pure consciousness that they are not aware that it is possible to actually experience this state. Most people do not realize that the state of pure consciousness is the true essence of their beingness. A downbeat self depiction often obstructs the joyous exuberant expression and abundance of life that is the true essence of their beingness (pure consciousness).

According to Gary Douglas of ACCESS Energy Transformation - "Healing, Caring, Nurturing, Creativity, Joyfulness, Fun, Expansiveness, Intensity of Infiniteness" are the expressions of a perennial pure conscious essence. That is the essence of who you truly are. When you are in "the flow" where things are in harmony and in sync, you have transformed from the state of unconsciousness to consciousness, your actions and purposes matched, and the outcomes are dynamic, creative, efficient and rewarding.

Consciousness is only a matter of choice. If you choose to be conscious, then you can be. If you choose to be unconscious, then you can be that as well. Your choice!!! Consciousness presents on a continuum and thus the individual can choose where on the continuum he or she wants to be. What would it take to expand your state of consciousness? What would that look like?
